Data & Instruments Search Discussion

Currently, the Oceans 3.0 Data Explorer is our main interface for accessing the NEPTUNE Canada data archive._ Improvements to this tool are ongoing, and we are interested in your reactions and suggestions.

Some Improvement Ideas

Which of the following are interesting and important to you? We've discussed the following improvements, but we're very interested in your suggestions (post a comment below).

• improved time-date selection
• faster plot mapping, better performance
• more instrument documentation and metadata
• data sub-sampling and ability to choose between decimated, average, or min-max
• scheduled searches
• improved help
• more data products (netCDF, what else?) and data product versioning
• GIS server integration
• ability to save, share, re-run data searches
• give it a better name (DataSkate? DeepSearch? DataTrawl? Data Portal? Data Porthole? SeaData? Trident Data? What do you think?)
